Food


There's a lot of different kind of typical food in Catalonia from Vegetarian dishes to desserts or sauces.


"Pà amb tomàquet": Bread rubbed with tomatoes and drizzled with oil and salt.




"Calçots": Vegetables that are normally barbecued and served with Romesco Sauce.




"Escudella": Pieces of meat beans, potatoes, cabbage and sometimes pasta.




"Butifarra": It's a spiced sausage.




"Cassola mar i muntanya": It has got some types of meat and fish like chicken, rabbit and shellfish or prawns.
















"Caragols a la llauna": Snails cooked in a campfire. You usually eat them with Alioli sauce.




"Esqueixada": A salad made with peppers, tomatoes, onions, red wine vinegar and 'bacalao'. 




"Romesco":  A sauce made from almonds, roasted garlic, olive oil and dried red peppers.




"Alioli": A sauce made of garlic and olive oil. 




"Crema catalana": It is made with sugar, eggs and cinnamon on the top.




"Mel i mató": Goat cheese served with honey.





FAMOUS COOKERS

The Catalan cooks and chefs are very acclaimed all over the world . Two of the five best restaurants in the world are in Catalonia, Ferran Adrià has got one of them called "El Bulli", "Els germans Roca" are two brothers (one makes desserts and the other one makes salty dishes), they also have the best restaurants (some ice cream shops and some restaurants).
