Monuments and architecture
  • The Seu Vella or Cathedral Vella: It is the symbol of the city. The temple is situated in the hill of the centre of Lleida.


  • The Castle of Gardeny: It is situated in the hill of Gardeny.



  • The Palace "La Paeria": is the name of the city hall of Lleida. It is an example of Catalan GothicThe façade includes all of the usual elements found in the works of this medieval architectural school
  • La Llotja: It is a theatre and congress center in Lleida.

Important sculptures

It is called "L'ametlla com balla". It is situated in the square of l' Escorxador.

Jaume Morera was a famous spanish artistic painter. He was born in Lleida in 1854.

Theatre

If you want to see an amazing play work theatre in Lleida come to these places:

    • "Teatre Municipal de l'Escorxador": In winter 2016 you can see: Mamma Mia! (musical), El Lago de los Cisnes (dance) and a lot of comedys.

    • Teatre "La Llotja": Here you can see amazing shows like: "Mag Lari Ozom" (magic show), "Carlos Latre, 15 años no es nada" (comedy), or "Madame Butterfly" (lyrical poerty).

    Music

    In Catalonia there are a lot of typical dances and songs. Now I'm gonna explain you the Catalan Folk Dance: 
    • The Sardana is a type of circle dance typical of Catalan culture. There are two main types, the original sardana curta (short sardana) style and the more modern sardana llarga (long sardana), which is more popular.

    • Ball de bastons is the name of the ritual weapon dance. Melodies are based on easy 2/4 rythms. Instrumental icludes tabor pipeshawm or bagpipes. The dancers will all carry one or two sticks (bastons) and they elaborate som patterns. They wear white skirts or shot trousers, as well red ribbons and ornaments.
